New Locks

There are a few emotions that come with this post. Someone broke into our house yesterday afternoon while we were in town. We came home to the front door wide open, the house 84 degrees and Alex standing at the bottom of the stairs (inside).  I know that the first thought is that we just forgot to lock the door. Not the case. Before leaving I asked Roland to lock the back door while I was locking the front. I am certain the house was locked up.

The first (known) way that God provided for us is in giving us a big, guard dog! Alex is just the perfect dog. From now on when he barks I will be checking to see what he is barking at. We all agree Alex is the reason that the intruder left quickly. I praise God for giving our boy instinct to protect his home and his people!!

Another provision is in our neighbors who are sheriffs and friends. We went over to see if Josh had come into our house for something while we were away. He went inside, got his gun and did a through search of our house with us. Praise the Lord! He also evaluated the doors and windows. The person(s) who broke in either had a key or a "bump key" because there was no damage. (We haven't changed our locks and there are a lot of people who have had a key to our house.)

Still, there is more... when we went to Home Depot to buy new locks we found good and knowledgeable sales people. And better still we found a set 50% off! My terrific and quite brilliant husband installed the new set and now everyone is safe and sound.

The whole potentially awful ordeal cost us a couple hours, less than $100 and some emotional challenge. We gained a new respect and appreciation for Alex and even more appreciation for our amazing Father in Heaven who always watches over us and protects us!!

Just Checking In

Dear friends,

So much is happening in our lives right that I don't really feel like I have had time to breathe. However, right now Wesley is playing the Wii and dinner is in the oven. Ahhhh...so quickly here are a couple of highlights.

It's summer and we have our nephew, Wesley, visiting with us for two weeks. I believe the plan is to take him home Friday. It will be another wirlwind trip but the visit is worth it. He is 12 and such a neat kid! He looks just like his uncle and loves to play just as much. He is really enjoying VBS and has made a couple friends. We took Wesley to Carter's Lake last Friday for an overnight camping trip. We are so thankful that Roland was able to get a vacation day Friday. More on the camping trip will have to wait though until I have downloaded more pictures. The plan is for Wesley to spend a couple hours with Roland tonight at work. I think they will have a great time together.

Vacation Bible School is happening this week which is my favorite week out of the year. That's a whole other blog in itself. I am just amazed by our church leadership! The first day of VBS is often harried and chaotic but not at TBC! Lisa Bandy has everything ready and waiting. Other leaders step up and help. Being a teacher is such a joy and the focus can be on teaching and my own class. I am sure many of you understand that this is a great blessing! I praise God for you Lisa! We are teaching 2nd grade and had 14 kids today. I consider that a "perfect" number. The other teachers and our youth helper are fantastic! I don't know how I always end up with the best but I sure have this year!

On a slightly different note I have a prayer request. I won't go into too many details here. Please pray that Rome's (Roland's boss) eyes will be opened to the truth. Also pray for Roland, especially tomorrow (Wednesday). He has a potentially important meeting with Rome. There is a man at work that is really miserable and is trying to make life miserable for Roland. It is actually getting serious and Roland has to take a stand. Please pray that he will have God's strength and wisdom. We know that the Lord gave us this job and life together and we are only here while it is His will for us to be. Truly, we wouldn't have it any other way.

I have not scheduled my surgery yet. It has been on my to do list now for two days but...
Please continue to pray that we will follow God's will for our lives especially specific to this situation.

Love,
MLG
